Types of insurance policies we can offer
Levels of Cover
At 1st Choice Insurance we can offer the three main types of policy available for motorbikes:
Third party only (TPO)
This is the minimum level of cover required in the UK by law. This covers:
- Liability for damage or injury to a third party
- Damage to property
There is no cover for damage to your motorbike or personal injury, or if your bike is stolen or set on fire.
Third party fire and theft (TPFT)
Third Party Fire & Theft covers you against claims made as the result of an accident, in addition to cover for:
- Your bike being stolen
- Any damage caused to your bike during theft or attempted theft
Cover for damage to your motorbike, or for personal injury is not included.
Comprehensive cover usually covers you for any claim in relation to damage to your motorbike and can also offer insurance for:
- Accidental damage to your motorbike
- Medical expenses
You should check your policy documentation carefully for any exclusions and endorsements which may apply specifically to your policy.
Classes of Use
The same as with car insurance, you will need to advise us of the class of use for your motorbike:
- Social, domestic and pleasure
- Business use
The excess is a contribution you make towards any claim. The Compulsory excess is calculated by the insurer as the amount you have to pay if you make a claim on your insurance policy. The Voluntary excess is chosen by you and is an amount that you pay in addition to the Compulsory excess in the event of a claim.
