1.    Who we are and who has access to your personal data?

We are Broker Business Direct Ltd T/A 1st Choice Insurance.

Personal Data may only be accessed, within Broker Business Direct Ltd, by appropriate personnel, such as HR, the Finance Team or department leader where appropriate.

We make disclosures to third party checker who is also regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This is to ensure that those carrying out regulated activities meet the standards of fitness and propriety.

2.    Why do we collect and use your personal information?

Data protection laws require us to meet certain conditions before we are allowed to use your personal information in the manner described in this Privacy Notice. We need to store a certain amount of personal data about you in order to be able to provide you with our services and to improve our services and how we deliver them to you.

Broker Business Direct Limited are the data processors and controllers and as such our management may have access to your details, as governed by our data privacy notice. We may also share selected data with job posting/application tracking platforms in the process of reviewing job applications.

Our third-party system provider, Monday, may also need to access your details to provide technical support in some circumstances. But this access is strictly controlled and limited, your data will not be accessed or used beyond the scope of providing technical support.

As an employer, we need your personal information in order to contact you and evaluate your suitability for roles offered by us. We process your personal information where it is necessary for the performance of the contract of employment, to take steps prior to entering into such a contract or when it is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation in the field of employment.

Prior to becoming employed by us, you will need to progress through our candidate screening and evaluation process. During this time, we will need your name, address, telephone number and email address in order to stay in contact with you.

To assess if your skills and experience meet the job requirements for the applied role, we will collect personal information about you, such as your current role title and your academic history. Other information may also be required to be uploaded through our third-party system provider, Monday, such as your CV and/or references.

3.    Where does personal data about you come from?

Personal Data is collected from a number of different sources. A few examples are:

  • You – personal details, financial details, contact information, CV etc.
  • Previous Employers
  • Educational/training institutions

4.    How can you manage your personal data?

You can request a copy of the personal data we store about you by e-mailing contacting our Data Protection Officer (DPO) who is responsible for overseeing questions in relation to this Privacy Notice.

5.    How long is personal data retained?

Personal data is retained for differing periods of time, depending on the nature and content. Personal data will not be retained for any longer than is necessary. For more information on data retention, please email the Data Protection Officer.

6.    What other rights do I have in relation to my personal data?

You can request rectification to any of your personal data held by Broker Business Direct Ltd in the event that there are any inaccuracies.

You may also request deletion of any of your personal data held by Broker Business Direct Ltd where Broker Business Direct Ltd no longer requires retaining that persona data.

Unless the processing is necessary for your employment relationship with Broker Business Direct Ltd, you are able to object to any processing of your personal data by Broker Business Direct Ltd.

7.    What happens if you don’t consent?

Broker Business Direct Ltd is required by law to gain consent to enable us to collect and process personal data. We have taken great efforts to collect as little personal data as necessary to provide you with an application process as transparent as possible, However, given the nature of recruitment and the application process, we do still need to collect and retain some personal data.

If you do not supply consent or ask for consent to be removed at a later date, we’ll comply with this by removing any personal data we hold about you.

You will always be more than welcome to come back and re-register with us or apply to any jobs we have posted tough, whether that’s now or in the future.

If you are not satisfied, you also have the right to lodge a formal complaint in relation to the collection and processing of your Personal Data to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
